Together, they create a distinctive culinary and guest experience rooted in warmth, quality, and authenticity. The Blue Bell has earned a loyal following for its food and atmosphere. Guests consistently highlight: Outstanding Sunday roasts, often described as the best in Norfolk. A genuinely dog‑friendly environment, making it a favourite for locals and visitors. High‑quality, flavour‑driven dishes, such as Blackened Mackerel, Saffron Potatoes, Pudina Chutney, Tomato Salsa, Spiced Lamb Chop, Lamb Bon Bon, Cauliflower, Fig, Batata Harra, and Coriander. A cosy, buzzy atmosphere with a rustic bar, wood‑burning fire, and a beautiful beer garden. Warm, attentive service, with staff frequently recognised by name. This is a pub with heart, heritage, and ambition—and we’re looking for a Sous Chef who can help support its next chapter. The Opportunity We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at The Langham Blue Bell. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll work closely with the Head Chef to deliver consistency, creativity, and the high standards our guests expect. You’ll play a key part in day‑to‑day operations, contribute to menu development, and help maintain a fun, laid‑back, and supportive kitchen culture. It’s an excellent opportunity for a chef who wants to grow, take on more responsibility, and be part of a team that values personality, teamwork, and genuine hospitality. What You’ll Be Responsible For Supporting the Head Chef in delivering high‑quality, consistent dishes across all services. Contributing ideas and creativity to seasonal menus and specials. Running the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring smooth and efficient service. Helping manage stock, assist with ordering, and maintain strong supplier relationships. Upholding kitchen standards, including food safety, cleanliness, and compliance. Training, guiding, and motivating junior team members to develop their skills. Maintaining a positive, collaborative, and relaxed working environment. Assisting with GP management, waste control, and efficient kitchen operations. What We’re Looking For Experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie ready to step up in a quality pub or restaurant. A passion for seasonal, local ingredients and well‑executed, flavour‑driven dishes. Strong organisational skills and the ability to stay calm and focused during busy services. A team‑player mindset with the confidence to lead when required. A commitment to consistency, standards, and guest satisfaction.
