Are you a passionate, ambitious leader looking for a unique opportunity to further your career in school leadership?
The Governing Body of Hallaton C of E Primary School is seeking to appoint an Interim Head Teacher to provide support and maintain the school’s vision and ethos in full during the substantive Head’s absence.
This is a fantastic chance for an aspiring or experienced leader wishing to broaden their expertise, develop their leadership portfolio, and make a genuine impact within a supportive and highly-regarded school community.
This role could be ideal for someone considering a secondment into headship—an excellent route to gain invaluable experience with the full support of our Governing Body and School Improvement Partner. Similarly, recently retired leaders seeking a rewarding short-term challenge will find this a perfect fit.
We are looking for a candidate who can commit to a minimum of three days per week—though five days is preferred—to help maintain our school’s high standards and caring ethos. You will have the opportunity to teach for at least one day per week, ensuring a hands-on leadership role that keeps you connected with our wonderful pupils and talented, committed staff.
At Hallaton, you will benefit from:
•Working alongside an experienced and dedicated teaching team, with the full backing of a proactive and engaged Governing Body;
•Enthusiastic and motivated children who love to learn and flourish in our nurturing environment;
•Supportive, involved parents and a welcoming local community;
•Strong collaboration with neighbouring schools and the Local Authority, offering excellent networking and professional development opportunities.
This role offers a wonderful leadership development opportunity in a school with an outstanding reputation. You will build on your expertise by:
•Experiencing the unique challenges and rewards of leading a rural primary school;
•Inspiring and supporting staff, governors, and pupils to achieve their very best;
•Driving school improvement and continuing our tradition of educational excellence;
•Strengthening links with parents, the church, and our local school community.
We are seeking an approachable, enthusiastic, and motivated individual with:
•Proven leadership and management skills;
•High aspirations for every child and a passion for teaching and learning;
•Resilience, integrity, and a commitment to our Christian values;
•A strong educational vision aligned with our ethos.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils and staff. All shortlisted candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Early applications are encouraged, as we reserve the right to close the advert once sufficient applications have been received.
We strongly recommend booking a visit to our school – please call the school office to arrange or for an informal conversation. For further details, an application form, and the Job Description, please go onto Eteach.
Important: Candidates applying for the post on a secondment basis must have the approval of their current Governing Body to pursue this route prior to applying.
Closing Date: 12:00 noon, 22 October 2025.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place at the end of October.
Safeguarding Statement
The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the personal specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
