Position Description
This position combines the responsibilities of Deputy Process Discipline Manager and Technical Leader. To successfully meet the demands of both roles, candidates must demonstrate:
* Strong leadership capabilities, including a track record of guiding teams through project execution and delivery, as well as mentoring and developing process engineers.
* A strong technical background, with proven experience in driving continuous improvement across process engineering by identifying, developing, and implementing innovative work methods, technologies, techniques, and digital tools.
In the capacity of Deputy Process Discipline Manager, the candidate will assist the Process Discipline Manager in overseeing the process engineering team, contributing to recruitment, and ensuring projects are staffed with the appropriate resources and personnel.
As Technical Leader, the candidate will serve as the central figure within the Process team for advancing and integrating new methodologies, technologies, and digital solutions.
Job Responsibilities
As Deputy Discipline Manager supporting the Process Discipline Manager
* Managing personnel and supporting individuals’ development within the team.
* Recruitment and assessment of personnel to ensure correct balance of skills is maintained within the process group.
* Providing suitable resources to projects and proposals.
* Supporting proposals in understanding process scope of work and preparing work‑hour budgets.
* Adding value to the project through efficient management of time, resources and effective decision making.
* Support projects in carrying out quality audits.
* Coordinating with other Department Managers.
Technical Leader
* Leads in providing technical solutions to projects and ensuring process tools and work methods are maintained.
* Leads in identifying, developing, and implementing digital tools for Process engineering.
* Acts as the focal point for the review of emerging process technologies and industry trends, supporting projects and proposals for these technology areas.
* Engages with professional organisations to support personnel and maintain knowledge of developing technologies.
* Coordinates activities with KBR digital team.
* Coordinates activities with KBR Technology teams.
Relationships
* Reports to the Process Discipline Manager.
* Works with Project Engineering Managers.
* Works with KBR Technology Managers.
Skills / Experience
Essential
* Experience of developing and deploying new work methods, technologies, techniques and digital tools for Process Engineering activities.
* Experience communicating across a multi‑discipline team and across different offices.
* Understanding of the requirements of other disciplines as part of project execution.
* Experience of work‑hour control and working to schedule and within budget on a major project.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Understanding of project safety requirements, international standards and implications on design.
* Understanding of process control and implementation in design.
* Ability to make practical design decisions which add value to a design and minimise negative impact to other disciplines, schedule or cost.
* Developing presentations and experience communicating with clients, personnel and professional institutions.
* Understanding of development of proposals for new projects.
* Must be able to drive quality within the process team and ensure high standards are met.
* Strong written communication skills.
* Self‑motivated and strong communication skills to enable effective team working.
* Experience delivering on conceptual, pre‑FEED, FEED and/or EPC projects.
Desirable
* Experience managing a large team and understanding how to manage personnel.
* Experience managing a process manhour budget of >24000 hours.
* Experience training/mentoring younger engineers either informally or through a formal training scheme.
* Experience presenting in formal settings.
* Experience building relationships with licensors and clients.
* Experience in fields such as dynamic simulation, surge / liquid transient analysis.
* Experience of python coding.
* Experience of the configuration and management of SPPID databases.
Qualifications
* BSc degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
* A relevant number of years of experience working with a major EPC contractor or operator.
