This role provides ASD highly specialist Speech & Language Therapy input to clients admitted or at risk of admission referred to the service. The post holder will work with Community Mental Health Teams and inpatient mental health wards, supporting the multidisciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner. They will also support the team with diagnostic assessments of adults with suspected Autism according to NICE guidance as needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide highly specialist assessment to clients within the service area.
* Maintain up-to-date and accurate case notes in line with RCSLT professional standards and local trust policies.
* Demonstrate clinical knowledge of mental health and psychiatric conditions such as personality disorders, anxiety disorders and mood disorders.
* Adapt practice to meet individual patients’/clients’ circumstances, including due regard for cultural and linguistic differences.
* Ensure that patients and/or their families are involved in the planning of their care/management plans wherever possible.
* Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
* Manage a complex caseload independently, accessing clinical supervision on a planned basis.
* Monitor and evaluate own service delivery, accessing clinical supervision on a planned basis.
* Support the service with diagnostic assessment of Autism as needed.
