Animal Technician

About the Role
As a Trainee Animal Technician, you’ll support the day‑to‑day care and welfare of animals within a controlled environment. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining high standards of animal care, hygiene, and facility operations.
* Carrying out routine animal husbandry (feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring)
* Maintaining high standards of animal welfare and hygiene
* Cleaning animal housing and equipment
* Recording and reporting observations accurately
* Supporting environmental monitoring (e.g., temperature checks)
* Following strict procedures and regulatory guidelines
* Assisting with general operational tasks as required
We’re keen to hear from individuals who:
* Have some experience working with animals (academic, voluntary, or professional)
* Are comfortable with hands‑on, practical work
* Have strong attention to detail and can follow procedures carefully
* Are reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
* Demonstrate a genuine interest in animal welfare
* Are willing to learn and develop professionally
Essential Requirements
* Full UK driving licence
* Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
* Good communication and teamwork skillsExperience in animal husbandry or similar environments
Working Hours & Conditions
* Flexibility required (including weekends and occasional out‑of‑hours cover)
* Role involves physical tasks such as lifting, cleaning, and manual handling
* PPE must be worn in accordance with procedures
