As a Web Developer, you’ll become an integral part of our agile development team, working with the latest technology on ground-breaking projects to keep the business at the forefront of our industry. You’ll work on the development and maintenance of our public websites, used to both promote the business, and to give our customers the ability to self-serve and manage their orders. Main responsibilities : Build and maintain Wren’s custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 6 based) Develop responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using Tailwind CSS and Symfony UX Integrate with RESTful APIs and external data sources Optimise site performance for SEO and user experience Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle Work with senior developers, business stakeholders and wider development team to understand the initial scope for a new project What Wren Offers: Life Assurance after 2 years' service Access to Benenden health and discount platform after 1 years of continuous service Personalised progression plan with clear career opportunities Individual training budget for personal development EE discount Staff discount on purchasing a kitchen/bedroom after 1 year of continuous service Eye Care Vouchers Refer a Friend Scheme Free onsite gym About You Essential A genuine passion (and a keen eye!) for website design and usability Frontend development experience with LESS/SASS or Tailwind CSS, HTML5 and modern TypeScript / JavaScript Understanding of UX principles and best practices Knowledge of technical SEO and performance optimisation techniques Experience of using Version Control systems such as Git as part of a team Familiar with Linux or Mac OS At least 2 years’ experience in creating and maintaining object oriented PHP7 or PHP8 based systems An understanding of the MVC approach to development Experience of working with MySQL (We use v8 currently) Experience of using version control systems (such as Git) as part of a team A passion for adhering to coding standards and clean code Desirable Experience with Redis, OpenSearch/ElasticSearch Strong Symfony (or similar) knowledge, including Doctrine ORM & Symfony UX JavaScript skills (object composition, scope) RESTful API design & automated testing (e.g. Playwright, PHPUnit) Familiar with Docker, Webpack, NPM, ESLint, Stylelint Understanding of Agile & CI/CD practices Knowledge of design patterns & practical application Comfortable with Linux/Mac OS Retail experience or understanding of retail processes About The Company Wren Kitchens are not only passionate about kitchens, we are passionate about our people!
