Join the Head of Retail role at Greggs
We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Retail team at Greggs as Head of Retail for the North Region. As a key member of the Greggs Senior leadership team, you will play a vital role in helping to shape the future of our business.
Reporting directly to the Retail Director, you will lead and inspire 5 Retail Operations Managers, 30 Area Managers, and more than 7,000 Team Members across 500+ shops in the North Region. Your primary focus will be to lead your teams to drive profitable growth by executing the retail strategy, nurturing talent, and unlocking new opportunities for expansion and commercial success.

About the role
* This is a full‑time role; flexibility may be considered

What you’ll do
* Accountable for growing the business through organic shop growth and new shop development
* Drive consistently high standards of customer service across the Region
Leading the Regional Team
* Strategic and visible leader who coaches and supports the regional team in alignment with Greggs’ values, promoting accountability and a culture of high performance
* Ensure the team has clear objectives, regular reviews and personal development plans to deliver business objectives and develop talent to their full potential
* Ensure appropriate coordination of functional support to deliver the Business plan
Business Development
* Actively drive the new shop opening programme within the Region
* Liaise with Shop Development and Property teams to identify and open new sites
* Drive new channels and develop business across all day parts
Brand Responsibility
* Accountable for consistent implementation of agreed Brand standards and practices within the Region
* Ensure Brand initiatives and product launches are implemented in the Region
Operational Excellence
* Help deliver ongoing operational improvement by working across functions on developing operating standards
Brand Standard Delivery
* Responsible for ensuring delivery of Brand standards as measured by audits for service style, merchandising, quality of food, food safety and H&S
Cost Control and Profit Responsibility
* Accountable for delivery of the Regional sales and profit budget
About you
* Senior Management experience within a multi‑site retailer with significant delivery results through others
* Experience developing innovative solutions and contributing to strategic planning
* Demonstrable experience in people management and development within large, layered, multi‑site teams
* Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills, working in large cross‑functional groups
* Welcoming attitude to change and dynamic adjustment to continuous business improvement
* Proven commercial acumen with accountability for achieving and excelling company targets
* Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
* Advanced IT skills including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and ideally some knowledge of AI, Copilot
