About the Role One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced Capital Projects Manager to lead on the delivery of planned maintenance and housing capital projects. This role will sit within the Housing Maintenance and Repairs team and contribute to our commitment to safe, sustainable, and resident-focused housing services. Key Responsibilities: * Manage and deliver cyclical and capital maintenance programmes across the Council’s housing stock. * Lead on procurement, contractor and consultant management, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. * Line manage a Project Support Officer and potentially other surveyors. * Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve issues including disrepair, leaseholder disputes, and compliance failures. * Draft and manage technical and financial reports, business cases, and contract documentation. * Drive performance improvements through data analysis, KPI tracking, and resident feedback. * Contribute to housing development schemes (e.g. Hidden Homes projects). Requirements: * Degree in a construction/property-related field or significant equivalent experience. * Working towards or holding ICIOB (or equivalent professional body). * Demonstrable experience managing capital programmes and contractor performance. * In-depth knowledge of housing compliance, cyclical maintenance, and local authority operations. * Excellent communication, leadership, and budget management skills. Desirable: * Experience working within a London Borough or housing association. * Knowledge of HRA-funded housing development projects. * Familiarity with contract law, procurement regulations, and building regulations.
