Overview
We are seeking to appoint an individual that wishes to make a difference to the local environment.
As an Assistant Technical Officer, you will work with senior colleagues to promote behaviour change campaigns and when required enforce the relevant legislation relating to reports of fly-tipping; littering; abandoned vehicles; incorrect separation, presentation and removal of waste and waste containers, clearance of waste from private land and breaches of our current Public Space Protection Orders.
You will raise awareness of environmental issues through educational projects, involvement in community events on anti-litter / waste prevention and co-ordinating clean ups in areas which suffer from deprivation or misuse.
You must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people in writing, and face-to-face, sometimes in difficult situations.
The postholder will work as part of multi-agency team supporting planned campaigns which will reduce the impacts of environmental crime within the Borough.
You should have good organisational skills and be able to work on your own initiative managing your workload in order to meet given deadlines. You should also be computer literate, and have good numeracy skills, along with the ability to write clear and concise reports.
As you will be required to travel around the Borough, a current, full driving licence is essential for this position.
Some early morning, late evening, bank holiday and weekend working may be required on occasions.

Pendle is in Lancashire’s scenic Pennines, close to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and Manchester.
