The Components business sits in the Energy sector and designs, manufactures and supplies state of the art low and medium voltage cable accessories that enables customers installation requirements. Products we supply hold, join, terminate and protect our customers vital cable assets. This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of our UK R&D team and experience the dynamics of a busy technical engineering environment.
What you will be doing?
A vacancy has arisen within our Components business for an accessories Development and Test Engineering Technician to ensure the continued development and testing of LV and MV accessories to meet the requirements of both the utility and industrial customers. The position is responsible for the running of the busy Components laboratory.
Key responsibilities:
1. To undertake development and testing activities on a range of low and medium voltage accessories.
2. Run the laboratory test programmes including low and high voltage electrical testing to British and International standards
3. Carry out and mechanical testing in line with the requirements of British and International standards.
4. Build test samples and test rigs in line with the designs of the R&D team
5. As part of the Design and development process collate and report results of ongoing test programmes to the electrical products engineer and other R&D teams.
6. Provides support for product familiarization both at a customer’s site and in the Components laboratory.
7. Provides training and supervision on laboratory test equipment to the team.
8. Manages the maintenance and calibration programmes of the laboratory test equipment.
Who we are looking for
9. An electrical engineer qualified to HNC or equivalent.
10. Experience in a test or installation environment would be beneficial but not essential
11. Knowledge of electrical systems
12. Knowledge of data logging would be advantageous
13. A working knowledge of Microsoft office is essential
