JOB DESCRIPTION Senior Project Manager – Software Development Department: Technology / Software Engineering Reports To: CEO / CTO Location: UK - Hybrid / Remote Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary Range: Competitive – Commensurate with Experience Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a complex software development initiative. In this role you will own the end-to-end project lifecycle—from scoping and planning through execution, release, and post-delivery review. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including software engineers, architects, QA, UX/UI designers, and business stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, fully tested, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Delivery Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders and technical leads. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, resource allocations, and budgets using tools such as Azure DevOps and Microsoft Project. Drive end-to-end delivery of software projects using Agile (Scrum/Kanban) methodologies. Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies; define and execute mitigation strategies proactively. Stakeholder & Team Management Act as the primary point of contact between technical delivery teams and business stakeholders, translating business requirements into actionable technical work. Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and steering committee meetings with external project sponsors. Provide regular, transparent project status reporting to senior leadership and external parties including progress, risks, financials, and key decisions. Technical Oversight Collaborate with solution architects and engineering leads to ensure technical decisions align with project goals, timelines, and enterprise architecture standards. Continuously review and evaluate evolving recommendations in security, code coverage, documentation, QA & testing and data pipeline architecture to ensure that best practices are followed. Implement monitoring solutions for these practices to ensure alignment. Oversee integration of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices into the project workflow. Ensure adherence to software quality standards including code review processes, security best practices, and compliance requirements. Continuous Improvement Conduct post-project reviews and lessons-learned sessions; feed insights back into project governance frameworks. Champion best practices in project delivery methodology, tooling, and team collaboration. Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency gains across the project portfolio. Required Qualifications Experience Minimum 7 years of project management experience, with at least 4 years managing software development projects in a senior capacity. Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale software projects on time and within budget. Strong experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and familiarity with waterfall/hybrid delivery models. Hands-on experience with project management tooling such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent. Skills & Knowledge Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support. Familiarity with modern technology stacks, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), and DevOps/CI/CD practices. Good financial acumen—experience managing project budgets, forecasting, and vendor/contract negotiations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences. Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities. Qualifications & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent project management certification (required). Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), PMI-ACP, or SAFe Agilist certification (highly desirable). Desirable Attributes Experience managing data platform or cloud migration projects (e.g., Azure Databricks, Snowflake, or similar). Background working in the hospitality, travel, or multi-site operational industries. Familiarity with AI/ML project delivery and working with data science teams. Experience with portfolio-level planning and PMO governance structures. Comfort operating in fast-paced, scaling organisations where processes are still maturing.
