Our Water company client are seeking a Senior Project Design Lead to manage the technical input for a range of water/ wastewater projects - permanent role with hybrid out of Chatham (Kent), Otterbourne (Hampshire) or Falmer (Sussex).\n\nYou will unite contributions from multiple engineering disciplines, and leading a cross-functional team. Your responsibility will be to ensure that all aspects of the project are aligned, focusing on delivering the right technical solution that meets business objectives and project requirements.\n\nYou will act as a key liaison between various departments, including Operations, Environmental Enabling, and the Engineering and Construction teams, ensuring that all factors-such as operational impact, environmental considerations, and technical needs-are thoroughly considered in every design.\n\nResponsibilities \n\nEnsure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, including CDM regulations.\nDevelop and maintain health and safety strategies and risk assessments for projects.\nPromote sustainable solutions and ensure the team follows health and safety practices.\nLead design teams to deliver cost-effective, long-term solutions\nOversee design quality, cost, and timelines, ensuring adherence to Southern Water's technical standards.\nCoordinate design resources, managing suppliers and contractors.\nDrive design efficiency, focusing on standardisation and innovative approaches.\nChallenge existing practices and adopt industry best practices for continuous improvement.\nPromote digital design concepts and collaborate with supply chain partners to improve efficiency.\nEnsure the delivery of cost-effective solutions that meet project budgets.\nWork with Project and Programme Managers to manage financial performance and provide design cost forecasts.\nInfluence stakeholders to ensure cost-effective design plans.\nEnsure design programmes are realistic and monitor progress to meet deadlines.\nIdentify delays early and effectively manage project timelines.\nEnsure designs meet customer and regulatory expectations.\nRepresent client at conferences and events, promoting the company's work through presentations and papers.Skills/experience/qualifications\n\nMEng/BEng/BSc or HND/HNC in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.\nMembership of an appropriate professional institute (Chartered or working towards).\nKnowledge of project management, H&S standards and Engineering within the Water Industry\nProject Management ExperienceBenefits\n\nThis role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week. \nOur client operates a hybrid approach to working between office and home.\nSalary circa £65k with some flex depending on experience\nCompany and performance-related bonus\nGenerous pension up to 11% company contribution\n25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)\nLife assurance equal to 4x salary\nSalary sacrifice electric car scheme (after 6 months service)
