We are currently recruiting a Scientific Officer for our client based in lisburn. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork and ANI completed.
Pay Rate: £17.43 per hour
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week, 9.00 to 5.00 Monday to Friday (Flexi hours, 7.4 per days not including lunch breaks)
Homeworking is an option with a minimum attendance on site of 2 days - however, flexibility around days attending site will be required, based on business need. Initial period of full office attendance is required for training purposes.

Job Duties:
The Quality Team develop and maintain the Quality Management System. This is implemented across the Water Management unit's Chemistry, Biology and Sampling groups.
The Quality System delivers compliance with the BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, ensuring the competence, impartiality and consistent operations of the laboratory.
A high value placed on the quality of data produced by the Water Chemistry Analytical Laboratories. External proficiency schemes are used to provide an independent assessment of analytical performance.
Compliance with the standard is continually assessed by a system of internal audits by trained assessors and independently by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
EXPECTED DUTIES:
* Maintenance of the ISO17025:2017 Quality Management System.
* Carry out management system and technical internal audits.
* Coordination of contract review process (AMAP)
* Coordination and review of outcomes of external proficiency Schemes and calibration schedules.
* Maintenance and review of QMS documentation and policy.
* Assistance with UKAS external Audit
* Management of IT systems such as Q-Pulse database:
- review and where necessary revision of Quality documents
- formatting of Quality documents undergoing revision
AND
* Non-Compliance Record (NCR) database:
- logging outlier/questionable/non-submission reports from external Proficiency Testing schemes
Staff will be expected to be able to drive as there will be occasions when 'field duties' may be required using an NIEA supplied vehicle.
RESPONSIBLE/ACCOUNTABLE TO:
* Primarily responsible to one of the Quality Team's Higher Scientific Officers.
Essential Criteria:
* 5 GCSE's A -C including Maths and English (must be able to show evidence)
* An HNC/HND or equivalent/higher qualification in an appropriate discipline such as chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science etc; and
* 1 years' experience of working in the field of accredited chemical analysis OR quality assurance in a multidisciplinary quality management system to ISO/IEC 17025.
* A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
