About the role
The UK’s Power sector is evolving and expanding rapidly to meet increasing customer demand. At Ipsum we offer tailored power and electrical solutions, from maintenance to major installation projects, all underpinned by our smart technologies. We are looking for a HV Commissioning Engineer to support our continued growth and deliver essential services 24/7/365 to local people and communities.
Responsibilities
* Attend commissioning meetings with client engineering and operational teams.
* Undertake Site Acceptance Testing for major items of plant (from LV up to 132kV Transmission Level).
* Commission, interface, and set to work equipment including LV and HV switchgear, substation ancillary systems, and protection relay settings.
* Prepare installation cable schedules and core sheets.
* Demonstrate commissioned plant to client representatives for plant sign‑off.
* Complete commissioning records, ensuring all progress and equipment settings are recorded for O&M manuals.
Qualifications
* Scottish Power Authorisation EN1, W1, SR3, WL1.05 & WL1.08 or previous relevant DNO experience.
* Familiarity with Distribution and Transmission (132kV) Level protection systems.
* Knowledge of Omicron numerical protection test equipment and advanced distance/differential controls.
* Familiarity with Schneider/GE (Agile) and Siemens (Digis 4 & 5) software packages.
* Understanding of IEC61850 substation SCADA protocol.
* Ability to supervise and advise site installation teams on protection installation.
* Adaptability to dynamic site conditions and willingness to work beyond standard hours if required.
* Capability to work both independently and as part of a commissioning team.
