SO1 (SCP £36,363 - £38,220 Subject to Job Evaluation
Plus 19% employer pension contribution
1 x temporary (up to December 2027 pending review), 37 hours per week
Location: Mossley Mill, but may be required to work from any Council site or facility
within the Borough
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council's award-winning Community
Development Team is continuing to grow with the exciting incorporation of
PEACEPLUS funding to support a Community Development Officer role which will focus on delivery of Thriving and Peaceful Communities. This will be delivered alongside general community development activities aligned to the aims and objectives of the Department for Communities Community Support Plan.
The overall objective of the PEACEPLUS programme is to build peace and prosperity, ensuring the programme leaves a lasting and tangible legacy across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland
The Community Development Team in partnership with the PEACEPLUS team have created a high impact and ambitious community and voluntary sector community capacity building programme. It is designed to support emerging and new community groups, develop and grow existing community groups to become active and sustainable, and nurture groups who aim to expand and establish themselves as service providers and social enterprises.
It is anticipated that the PEACEPLUS programme will be the driver for change with continuous ongoing development within the Community and Voluntary sector post funding. This role will support the wider Community Development Directorate through overseeing the delivery of interconnected programmes in partnership with internal and external departments and organisations.
The post holder will strive to strengthen the capacity of local groups and individuals, supporting inclusive community development, collaboration, and long-term resilience. They will ensure that these programmes are not only delivered effectively, but also inter-linked to create a lasting impact across the Borough.

Recruitment Process
The recruitment process will assess the suitability of the candidates against the requirements for the post including the 7 competencies identified in the Competence Framework for Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.

Provisional date for the next stage is to be confirmed and will include a presentation as part of the process.
A reserve list will be created for this post for a 12 month period and if this post becomes available either part time, full time, temporary or permanent within 12 months this will be offered to reserve candidates in order of merit.
