Overview
We are seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join Heathfield Ward, based at the Department of Psychiatry, Eastbourne. You will join a dedicated team responsible for providing high standards of care and support to our patients.
We are part of the Department of Psychiatry, alongside Eastbourne's District General Hospital. The Department has three on-site inpatient wards for adults with mental health problems: Heathfield Ward, Amberley Ward & Bodiam Ward. A new hospital is being built in Bexhill to replace inpatient services; successful applicants will transfer to the new facility when it opens in late 2026.
Responsibilities
* Undertake assessments of patients with complex mental health needs on Heathfield Ward as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver patient-centred holistic care and support recovery, working closely with OT’s, psychologists and doctors.
* Develop care and recovery plans in collaboration with patients and their families/carers; regularly assess, review and manage risk.
* Act as Primary Nurse, providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward; supervise junior staff and trainees to support skill development.
* Contribute to the delivery of high-quality care that supports patients in the later stages of life and their recovery.
* Work flexibly to meet the needs of a 24-hour service, including evenings, nights and weekends, with associated pay rates as detailed by the trust.
