About the job you’re considering
As a Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering design, development, manufacturing, testing, and in-service materials support to Defence Aerospace Projects. The team maintains multiple relationships, both internally and externally, with defined customer service level agreements on performance and delivery in line with deadlines. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience with materials, processes, components, and products produced by our client and its suppliers, as well as developing key skills for personal growth.
You will support a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems related to Defence Aerospace Projects, managing small to medium tasks such as materials selection and corrosion assessment related to component non-conformance.
Hybrid working: Your work location will vary between company offices, client sites, and your home, depending on your role, needs, and business requirements. Note that working from home 100% of the time is not possible.

Your role
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1. Assist with engineering studies (welding technology, corrosion assessments, materials selections, etc.).
2. Perform engineering calculations (e.g., corrosion & erosion).
3. Produce project engineering documents (e.g., materials selection, corrosion management).
4. Create technical assessments and reports of study results.
5. Assist with preparation, review, or approval of engineering deliverables.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Provide technical advice across Defence Aerospace programs, focusing on design and supply chain support.
2. Support test program design and analyze test data.
3. Investigate engineering development, manufacturing, and in-service issues using structured analytical methods and present findings clearly.

Your skills and experience
* Experience with metallic and aerospace materials.
* Degree in Materials Engineering; Chartered status or working towards it.
* Relevant experience in aerospace sector employment.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to build relationships.
* Strong team player.
Desirable skills:
* Welding expertise.
* Non-destructive testing knowledge.
* Pressure systems design experience.
* Knowledge of gas turbines and components.
