Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Urban Designer to join a high-performing design and planning team delivering impactful projects across London and the wider UK. The role offers the opportunity to shape major areas of change, support high-profile masterplanning and regeneration commissions, and provide design guidance that will influence some of the most exciting developments in the country.
You will work across a range of project stages—from early concept visioning and frameworks to detailed design and development management support—while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Urban Design & Masterplanning
* Develop masterplans, design codes, development frameworks and concept layouts for a variety of urban typologies.
* Contribute to visions and spatial frameworks that will guide major areas of growth and change.
* Provide high-quality urban design advice to planning, housing and transport teams.
* Support policy, design and development management processes with robust spatial and contextual analysis.
Graphic, Visual & Written Output
* Produce plans, diagrams, visualisations, images and design documents of exceptional quality.
* Prepare clear, compelling graphic material to support planning submissions, client presentations and stakeholder engagement.
* Assist with bid and proposal development, contributing to visual content and design narratives.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
* Work collaboratively with architects, landscape architects, transport planners, engineers and other specialists.
* Critique and review development proposals, offering clear design direction and constructive feedback.
* Present ideas and analysis to clients, senior stakeholders and multi-disciplinary project teams.
Technical & Site-Based Work
* Undertake site analysis, feasibility studies and research to inform design development.
* Demonstrate strong technical understanding across scales, from strategic masterplanning to detailed public realm considerations.
About You Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Architecture (RIBA Part I) or a design-related discipline is essential;
* Postgraduate qualification in Urban Design, Urban Development or Urban Regeneration (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
* Professional experience in urban design within a UK consultancy, local authority, or multidisciplinary design environment.
* Experience in the critique and review of architectural and urban design proposals.
Technical Skills
* High proficiency in
SketchUp
,
Adobe Creative Suite
(particularly InDesign and Illustrator) and
GIS
(e.g., MapInfo).
* Confident working with
AutoCAD
and/or
Revit
.
* Strong capability in producing graphic, spatial and written material at a high standard.
* Strong understanding of national and local planning policy, design coding, sustainability principles, movement frameworks and development typologies.
