Established in 1984, Ruskin Mill Trust is an educational charity that operates in England, Scotland and Wales. We offer exciting outdoor learning environments, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences. Our research-led method, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. We are looking for aStudent Engagement Co-ordinator to create and implement a student engagement and positive approaches strategy across Sunfield School. This will be carried out whilst taking into consideration aesthetics, location and environment. The post holder will be expected to identify and deliver strategies that achieve a high level of student engagement within Ruskin Mill's unique method of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) and Rudolf Steiner's approach.
The main duties of the role will include:
* Work in conjunction with the Pastoral Health and Care Manager, devising and embedding effective behaviour management strategies for implementation within the student group
* Work collaboratively with the Executive Principal in devising and developing effective learner engagement strategies
* Communicate with the Executive Principal and the HEaRT Co-ordinator regarding the development of PSTE throughout the curriculum
* Tailor observations to individual student needs, comparing behaviours in different environments (e.g., land-based vs. classroom settings) and evaluating the impact of PSTE on outcomes
* Conduct more frequent and targeted observations of student behaviour, providing valuable insights into their daily experiences and enabling deeper behavioural analysis.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders across education, care and therapies to ensure a consistent approach to student support is taken
* Manage administrative tasks related to occurrences and pastoral referrals
* Lead and deliver training sessions for staff, particularly in areas related to behaviour support and engagement
* To be a trainer as required, including being a CPI trainer
* Be trained in the delivery of medication
In addition, the responsibilities of Student Council Coordinator and Educational Visits Coordinator will be incorporated into these roles and discussed further with candidates during the interview process.
