LTek Recruitment are working with a leading engineering business to recruit an experienced Service Engineer specialising in LV, MV and HV switchgear (up to 11kV).
This is a hands-on, field-based role offering the opportunity to work on complex projects across the UK and internationally, supporting high-profile clients within the power and energy sector.
The Role
As a Service Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering maintenance, repair and commissioning of switchgear equipment. You’ll be working both independently and as part of a team, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:
* Maintenance, testing and repair of LV/MV/HV switchgear and circuit breakers
* Fault finding and diagnostics on electrical systems
* SF6 gas handling and replacement
* Conducting site surveys and supporting installation/commissioning activities
* Leading and supporting junior engineers on-site
* Producing detailed service reports and project documentation
* Ensuring strict adherence to health & safety procedures
* Providing technical support to clients and maintaining strong relationships
This role will involve regular travel, including international assignments and occasional offshore work.
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and technically skilled engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Essential:
* HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
* Completed apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering
* Strong experience working with HV/LV switchgear
* Field service experience
* Solid fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* Excellent communication and customer-facing ability
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Experience with MV/HV circuit breakers (air, oil, vacuum)
* Offshore or industrial site experience
* Knowledge of Whipp & Bourne equipment
* SF6 certification (or willingness to obtain)
