The Role:

We are seeking a motivated and organised Information Governance Administrative Officer to join our friendly and supportive Corporate Services Information Governance Team. This role is ideal for someone eager to develop strong administrative and data-handling skills in a specialist area with excellent long-term career prospects.

What you’ll do:

As an Administrative Officer, you will provide essential support to the Information Governance Team and help ensure the Council meets its statutory and corporate obligations. You will be trained to:

Information Governance Administration:

1. Log, track and manage requests made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), and Data Protection legislation, including Subject Access Requests (SARs)
2. Log and allocate Local Government & Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) complaints and assist with general data protection enquiries and incident administration
3. Use case management systems and SharePoint sites to record, track and update progress on statutory requests

Data Reporting & Performance Monitoring:

4. Collate, maintain, and quality‑check data to support the team’s reporting responsibilities
5. Assist the IG Manager in preparing performance reports, dashboards, and compliance statistics by gathering and organising relevant data

Committee & Governance Support:

6. Provide administrative support to the Information Governance Management Group (IGMG) including: - Preparing agendas and circulating papers - Taking and producing accurate minutes - Tracking actions and supporting follow‑up activity

Registers and Organisational Compliance:

7. Support the ongoing maintenance of: - The Council’s Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) - The Corporate Services Information Asset Register - The Council’s Open Data publication commitments
8. Assist Information Asset Owners and Services with updates, ensuring records are complete and accurate

General Administration:

9. Communicate professionally with internal colleagues and, where appropriate, members of the public
10. Manage shared mailbox enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses
11. Maintain accurate digital records and support the overall smooth running of the service
