We’re growing - and we’re looking for a Women’s Housing & Wellbeing Officer who shares our belief that when women are safe, supported and connected, the world is their oyster.
THE ROLE
This is a hands-on, purpose-driven role at the heart of BASE’s work. You’ll support women in our housing projects to stabilise their lives, regain confidence, and take positive steps towards independence.
You’ll spend roughly:
* 80% supporting ladies to achieve their practical housing, health and independence goals
* 20% facilitating community and wellbeing activities that foster confidence, connection and belonging.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Housing and Tenancy
* Liaise with Housing Benefit and other official bodies to ensure housing benefit claims are live. Where necessary, support tenants to resolve issues and collect requested documents
* Carry out compliance checks, safety audits and property inspections
* Manage personal charge arrears directly
* Update, organise and manage ladies’ files ensuring that all relevant information is recorded accurately
* Organise and carry our tenant move-ins and exits.
* Help ladies to design their support plan. Complete documentation such as sign-up paperwork, risk assessments, incident reports, log notes etc and carry out monthly reviews.
* Carry out all relevant activity that relates to the ladies’ support plans, including mandatory duties such as room checks, employment support, housing applications and healthcare registration
* Accurately upkeep impact monitoring records
* Carry out any housing related duties that support the upkeep of proactive and positive housing environments. Clean and prepare rooms and sites ready for new tenants.
* Compliance and H&S checks and duties
* Participate in on-call rota
Community and Wellbeing
* Encourage and support ladies to attend community groups and wellbeing workshops
* Facilitate and attend fun and social group activities
* Mentor ladies to develop their life skills, confidence, responsibility and employability to live independently without support.
* Network in relevant communities, groups and partnerships to develop the network of community activity and raise the profile of BASE.
* Demonstrate commitment to Equality and Diversity.
* Sensitively and professionally challenge traditional approaches to support. Operate the BASE way.
Flexibility Clause – to assist in all reasonable duties that enables a flexible and effective delivery of front-line services which arise from the nature and character of the post.
ABOUT YOU
You’re an individual with strong leadership skills and initiative, who is able to engage with women from all walks of life. You’re compassionate, resilient, and motivated by making a real difference. You combine empathy with practical problem-solving and take pride in helping others move forward.
You’ll bring:
* Genuine passion for empowering women to change their lives.
* Experience delivering housing management and/or support services.
* Understanding of housing compliance, health & safety, and safeguarding.
* Ability to manage complex situations calmly and professionally.
* Strong organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
* A proactive, self-motivated approach and the confidence to work independently.
* Understanding of outcome monitoring and social impact measurement.
* A commitment to person-centred, trauma-informed practice.
* Enhanced DBS (required prior to employment).
Desirable:
* Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
