Summary:
This hybrid internship role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in both industrial machining and mechanical systems. Interns will learn to fabricate parts and assist in equipment maintenance within a dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate and assist with the maintenance of lathes, milling machines, and hand tools
• Fabricate or modify components to support machinery repairs
• Support installation, alignment, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
• Assist with diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks
• Uphold safety, cleanliness, and teamwork on the workshop floor
Qualifications/Skills:
• Enrolled in or recent graduate of an Industrial Machinist technical training program (, HEART/NSTA Trust, UTECH or a similar program
• Basic knowledge of machining processes, tools and mechanical systems.
• Able to utilize metrology to ensure accuracy and precision of parts during fabrication.
• Interpret mechanical drawings
• Identify threads for cutting.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and maintains a professional work attitude
Working Conditions:
• Must be able to climb stairs and work at heights
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Must be willing to stand for long periods
• Exposure to industrial machine shop environments; heat, noise.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments, heat, and confined spaces
