Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion & Wellbeing

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and drive our whole‑school vision for inclusion, nurture and pupil wellbeing, ensuring that every child is seen, known and supported to thrive.

This vacancy has arisen due to internal movement, providing the chance for a skilled and experienced leader to step into an established, forward‑thinking environment.

Our school was last inspected in May 2024, where we were delighted to receive Outstanding judgements in Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, and Leadership and Management. These outcomes reflect our deeply embedded culture of care, aspiration and excellence.

We are incredibly proud of our pupils, who are kind, capable, enthusiastic and a joy to work with. This role offers a wonderful opportunity to join Team Norristhorpe as an integral and valued part of our school family.

The Postholder Will Lead On Provision For

* Pupils with SEND
* Disadvantaged pupils
* Those facing additional barriers to learning and wellbeing

Inclusion is embedded across all areas of our school, and we aspire to strong, evidence‑informed systems for identifying need, removing barriers and using targeted funding effectively.

This role also reflects the national ambition set out in the 2026 Schools White Paper, which commits to halving the disadvantage gap and strengthening early identification, SEND reform and collaborative approaches to supporting vulnerable children.

What We Are Looking For

* Has a deep commitment to inclusion, equality and the wellbeing of all pupils
* Can lead strategic development of SEND, Pupil Premium and nurture‑based provision
* Understands the latest national expectations around supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable learners
* Can inspire and equip staff to deliver consistently high‑quality, relational and inclusive practice
* Is skilled at working with families, external agencies and multi‑disciplinary teams
* Has vision, resilience and the ability to influence whole‑school culture

What We Offer

* A salary on the Leadership Scale L5–9
* Generous non‑contact time to allow you to lead strategically and embed sustainable, high‑quality practice
* The opportunity to lead an experienced, dedicated and highly skilled inclusion and, pastoral and nurture team
* A leadership role with real capacity to influence outcomes for children who need us most
* A supportive, values‑driven school culture committed to the wellbeing of staff and pupils alike

Candidates who are interested are strongly encouraged to visit the school, meet with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher, and take a tour during the working day. We are proud of our school, our pupils and the community we serve, and we believe this is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to make a meaningful impact.

Your impact

As Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion & Wellbeing, you will lead a whole‑school approach to:

* SEND provision (including medical needs) and statutory responsibilities
* Pupil Premium strategy and evaluation
* Pastoral and wellbeing systems
* Nurture‑based and SEMH provision
* Multi‑agency working and early intervention
* Staff development in inclusion and adaptive practice

Your leadership will ensure our provision reflects both the spirit and expectations of the new Ofsted inclusion judgement and the national ambition for a more equitable, coherent and joined‑up education system
