This is an apprentice administration role supporting the wider respiratory team. The post holder will become fully competent in providing administrative support for the Respiratory Service.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative support to the Respiratory administrative team.
2. Undertake general office duties, such as answering the telephone, taking messages, filing, photocopying, handling incoming and outgoing post, and other related tasks.
3. Communicate effectively with staff and visitors, providing support and resolving issues as required.
4. Transcribe accurately from BigHand digital dictation and BigHand Speech Recognition, including outpatient clinic letters and clinical correspondence, maintaining high standards within specified timescales (mainly audio typing).
5. Handle inbound and outbound telephone calls related to patient care in a confidential, sensitive, and empathetic manner.
6. Use and maintain administrative and patient databases related to patient pathways, tracking investigations/results, and scheduling appointments.
7. Utilize hospital systems to record patient information accurately, add referrals, and book appointments.
8. Demonstrate flexibility by providing support to the wider Respiratory specialty as needed.
9. Complete mandatory training as required.
