Job Title: Technical AuthorReporting to: Product Development ManagerSalary: TBA (dependant on experience)Purpose: To communicate specialist information about how the companys products and services work and how they can be applied or used in a way thats easy to understand. The information may be presented in the form of user guides, reference and instruction manuals, training guides, online help and operating guides.Key Responsibilities:Service Delivery:Obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished and engaging content.Create accurate technical specifications and documentation through liaison with engineering/sales team/customer.Present information in the form of user guides, reference and instruction manuals, training guides, online help incorporated into software and operating guides.Working with translators, printers and service providers, as required.Present information according to the users needs, write and edit text, commission, coordinate or prepare illustrations using a variety of software applications to index and catalogue material.Produce simplified maintenance instructions and troubleshooting guides.Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement.Co-ordinate with colleagues to support the sales team with technical specifications, site visits and technical advice throughout the process.Meet regularly with the Product Development Manager and Design team to ensure effective communication of information relative to potential business improvement initiatives.Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.Co-ordinate with other departments relative to engineering design.Follow company processes relating to equipment design.Ensure drawings meet the companys design specifications.Contribute in the companys continuous improvement initiatives.This is not an exhaustive list and may be subject to change depending on the needs of the company.EDGE Innovate are an Equal Opportunities Employer.EssentialGood standard of education (to include English and Maths at GCSE Grade C or equivalent).Experience with CAD design.Technical communication and publishing software experience in writing guides or user manuals.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to express instructions clearly and briefly in simple terms.Well developed analytical, innovative and problem solving abilities to get information from experts.Accuracy and a methodical approach to work, with attention to detail abilities.Be solution focused, with the ability to work on own initiative.Good organisational, planning and time management skills.Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.Competent in the use of Microsoft Office ie Outlook, Excel and Word; the internet; Adobe Acrobat and Illustrator.Benefits:Health Cash Plan Flexible Working 4 or 4.5 day week 29 days holidays Birthday Recognition Free Car ParkingWHJS1_NI
