About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our Regional Buildings Team in the North Midlands. This position focuses on the post-construction phase, ensuring standards are maintained while managing defect resolution and project adjustments.
The role involves frequent travel to local projects, occasional nationwide travel, a company car, and covered travel expenses.
Our teams operate across England and Wales, creating spaces for living, working, learning, and recreation, particularly in sectors like aviation, health, defense, education, and development.
What you'll be doing
The HSW Advisor will support the Regional Buildings Team to enhance HSW performance, providing effective advice to meet and exceed operational standards. The role supports the Head of HSW/Senior HSW Advisor in achieving Zero Harm objectives.
Responsibilities include:
* Understanding and supporting UK HSW Strategy delivery.
* Contributing to Zero Harm and Sustainability Action plans at various levels.
* Supporting delivery of HSW KPIs.
* Assisting work-winning teams with HSW responses for bids and proposals.
* Investigating accidents and incidents per standards.
* Creating and reviewing risk-based Service Level Agreements with projects.
* Conducting site inspections based on risk assessments.
* Producing reports on HSW inspections and project performance.
* Monitoring health and safety risk management practices.
Who we're looking for
* Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ, Degree, or equivalent (Level 6). Candidates working towards these qualifications with onsite experience may be considered.
* Working towards or holding Chartered IOSH membership.
* Ability to promote a positive HS&W culture.
* Experience in incident investigation.
* Strong knowledge of UK H&S regulations and business systems.
* Skilled in report writing and project management.
* Experience with complex construction projects.
* Excellent communication skills at all levels.
