Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated person to provide technical leadership for our electronics engineering team in Radiotherapy Technology Services (RTS). Working collaboratively with clinical and scientific staff, you will be supporting the clinical radiotherapy service to treat patients through the safe and effective repair and maintenance of medical equipment including 12 Elekta VersaHD linacs, 3 Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT Simulators, a Flexitron remote afterloading unit, Gamma Knife ICON, and MR simulator. In addition to this wide variety of equipment, your good communication skills, and experience in managing medical devices will serve you well as you join our multidisciplinary project teams in implementing new radiotherapy technology solutions, including additional Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) installations and refreshing our fleet of linear accelerators.
About the team
Radiotherapy Technology Services (RTS) sits within the Radiotherapy Physics section of the Department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, part of the Oncology Clinical Service Unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The team is made up of four specialist groups: Clinical Computing, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, and Technical Services, who work closely together in multidisciplinary workgroups to support the safe and effective use of radiotherapy equipment.
Job responsibilities
* Develop techniques and processes to support the continuous improvement of oncology services for patient benefit.
* Collaborate with technologists, clinical and scientific staff to implement advanced radiotherapy equipment, while developing knowledge of emerging technologies to support oncology services.
* Lead in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of radiotherapy pre-treatment and treatment delivery systems.
* Train others in equipment management and electronic engineering skills for use in a healthcare science environment, including workplace supervisor responsibilities for department apprentices.
* Undertake the technical system manager role for digital systems within Clinical Oncology.
