Accounts Assistant - Full time, permanent.

Full time, 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm or similar
Reports to: Finance Manager
We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Team in Preston. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s confident working with people across the business — from lawyers to support teams — and enjoys being hands‑on with accounts payable, and supporting the wider finance team.
A large part of this role will be accounts payable. The role holder will also support the Finance Manager and Head of Debt Recovery, carrying out credit control activities, month‑end reconciliations, and reporting responsibilities. Confidence in communicating with colleagues and clients is key.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the accounts payable process, including posting and processing supplier invoices.
* Liaise with colleagues and budget holders to obtain approvals.
* Prepare and process supplier payments in line with agreed terms.
* Support credit control activities, including liaising with clients and fee earners.
* Complete daily and monthly reconciliations across client and office accounts.
* Process employee expenses and company credit card transactions.
* Maintain accurate records and assist with month‑end routines.
* Provide general support to the wider Finance Team.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in a finance or accounts role, including accounts payable.
* Confident communicator with a professional and approachable manner.
* Strong attention to detail and good time management skills.
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Proficient in Excel and familiar with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, NetSuite, or similar).
* A team player with a proactive attitude.
