This is a full-time, temp-to-perm role with a clear pathway to a permanent contract, starting in September 2025. You will be teaching English across various key stages within a collaborative department.
About The Role:
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and high-quality English lessons. You’ll foster a stimulating learning environment where students can develop their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, preparing them for academic success and beyond.
Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective English lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5).
2. Assess, monitor, record, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
3. Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active participation and academic growth.
4. Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and continuous professional development opportunities.
5. Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents to support student well-being and achievement.
Requirements:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK is essential.
7. A relevant degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject.
8. Proven experience teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a UK secondary school.
9. A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for English and relevant examination board specifications.
10. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
11. A genuine passion for English and a desire to foster a love for the subject in young people.
12. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
13. Commitment to continuous professional development and contributing to the wider school community.
14. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
