Clinical Fellow – Intensive Care Medicine
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Fellow to join our Intensive Care Medicine Team.
The Critical Care Unit sees approximately 1000 patients per year. Half are medical patients, half are surgical, and 95% of admissions are emergencies. Approximately 55% require advanced respiratory or multi‑organ support. The mean APACHE II score is 16 and the ICU SMR was 0.71 for the last quarter.
The unit is currently staffed to care for up to 16 critically ill patients, with the ability to surge to greater numbers if required.
This post provides excellent learning opportunities and can help prepare candidates for primary qualifications in their chosen field. In addition to valuable clinical experience, you will have protected time for weekly teaching and self‑development projects, including research and quality improvement initiatives, tailored to your training requirements and supporting FUSIC accreditation.
Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for your own learning by fully engaging in weekly teaching sessions, accessing academic staff and attending training and in‑service commitments.
* Prepare presentations for tutorials as requested.
* Assist with the collection of information for audit procedures and the department’s structured clinical governance programme, ensuring continuous quality and service improvement.
* Offer additional experience paired with anaesthesia if desired and if successful at interview.
