Responsible Welding Coordinator
Location: Stockport
Pay: £31.18 per hour + benefits
Job Type: Permanent
We’re looking for an experienced Responsible Welding Coordinator to take a lead role in maintaining and developing an established Welding Quality Management System within a high-integrity engineering environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified individual to influence welding coordination, quality assurance, and technical support functions.
Note: Only candidates who meet the following essential criteria will be considered:
* IWT or EWT qualified
* Registered with The Welding Institute (TWI)
* CSWIP 3.1 certified
* Previous experience in welding coordination
* In-depth knowledge of MIG/MAG (SMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding processes
* Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and documentation
* Working knowledge of ISO 3834
* Experience with external audit activity
About the Role: You’ll be part of a specialist quality team and act as the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) for the site. Your responsibilities include overseeing welding operations, supporting new product introductions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvements in welding processes. This hands-on role covers quality control, documentation, internal audits, and equipment strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure welding activities comply with relevant standards and certifications (ISO 3834, EN 1090, DIN 2303)
* Lead welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606 & 14732
* Develop and maintain WPSs and SOPs
* Plan and manage welding-related work orders in SAP
* Conduct internal welder audits and manage corrective actions
* Support root cause analysis and problem-solving (RCCA)
* Liaise with suppliers on welding capability and compliance
* Provide technical guidance to engineering and design teams
* Contribute to plant/equipment selection and welding automation strategy
