The Fire Safety Manager will lead the operational delivery of fire safety compliance and risk reduction for their designated campus (Northern General Hospital or Central Campus), acting as the Responsible Person (RP) under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for that site.
The postholder will be one of two Band 7 Fire Safety Managers who, together, provide site-level leadership and ensure consistent Trust-wide implementation of fire safety standards in line with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM – Managing Healthcare Fire Safety, HTM 05-02 – Fire Safety in Healthcare Premises, and the full HTM 05-03 suite of guidance.
Providing visible, accountable fire safety leadership across their allocated site and acting as the legally designated RP under the RRFSO 2005.
Leading site-level implementation of statutory fire safety requirements, NHS guidance, and Trust policies, ensuring full compliance with HTM, Building Regulations, British Standards, and related codes of practice.
Delivering proactive support to capital and refurbishment schemes, ensuring compliance through all stages of design, construction, commissioning, and handover
Coordinating and delivering fire drills, training programmes, fire warden arrangements, and emergency evacuation planning in accordance with HTM 05-01 principles.
Working in partnership with the Deputy Head of Governance & Compliance to ensure site level fire safety assurance, incident reporting, policy implementation, and risk register updates.
