We are looking to recruit a committed, patient focused Pre-treatment Team Leader to join our friendly Radiotherapy department here at the Rosemere Cancer Centre. Our department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS FT is a busy centre providing ISO9001:2015 certificated external beam radiotherapy services for Lancashire and South Cumbria. We are part of a Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network collaborating with the Christie NHS FT and The Clatterbridge Centre NHS FT to provide high quality radiotherapy across the North West of England. Full time preferred (0.8 WTE may be considered).
Main duties of the job
You will work with the pre-treatment team leading the practice in all aspects of external beam radiotherapy localisation, scanning, planning and data prep. Lifelong learning is central to both Departmental and Trust values including learning related to equipment, patient care and quality documentation. The Radiotherapy department has successfully integrated role extension into its culture and has implemented Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Consultant Practitioner roles in Therapeutic Radiography. Additional to this there is a strong research ethic with opportunities for active involvement with research at all levels.
You will work flexibly to deliver an excellent service in all Radiotherapy work areas, ensuring efficient throughput of workload and delivery of high standards of technical and patient care whist acting as a role model and patient advocate.
Working for our organisation
We are part of a Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network collaborating with the Christie NHS FT and The Clatterbridge Centre NHS FT to provide high quality radiotherapy across the North West of England.
We have seven Elekta linear accelerators including two Harmony and an EVO linac soon to be clinical, all with cone beam imaging capability. We have two Phillips BIG BORE CT scanners and an Xstrahl Superficial Unit networked by a MOSAIQ patient management system. We employ a wide range of techniques including IGRT, IMRT and VMAT. Radiographer-led daily IGRT is routine for the majority of radiotherapy delivery procedures. We are a commissioned provider of Intracranial SRS/T and SABR. Surface guided Radiotherapy has been rolled out across the whole department.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient scanning, planning and input of external beam radiotherapy. Ensuring a high standard of patient care, information and support while respecting the privacy and dignity of all patients under their care. To provide clinical supervision, advice and training for other staff and students to support them in reaching their full potential. Working with the other Pre -treatment Team Leaders to provide clinical training for all aspects of the patient preparation pathway including superficial and on call.
To support the productive operation of the radiotherapy department by undertaking a range of activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. To act at all times in a manner that upholds the Trust’s values, the Health and Care Professions Council Standards of Proficiency for Radiographers and the Society & College of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct, working as part of a team to ensure that patients and relatives receive excellent care with compassion

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. UK HCPC Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer
2. Evidence of post graduate work-based learning and / or academic study
Desirable criteria
3. Masters level qualification in Radiotherapy or Health Studies
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
4. Evidence of extensive post-registration clinical practice in Therapeutic Radiography
5. Advanced knowledge of treatment preparation equipment, systems and techniques
6. Advanced knowledge and competence in Virtual Simulation
7. Advanced knowledge and competence in Manual calculation and data input into MOSAIQ
8. Experience with Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT scanners, Pinnacle TPS and MOSAIQ Patient Management System
Desirable criteria
9. Understanding of advanced radiotherapy techniques
10. Competence in cannulation and contrast administration
11. Experience in first line HR management (Absence / performance / appraisal)
12. Demonstrable experience of workload management
13. Awareness of the drivers affecting Radiotherapy service provision
14. Understanding of principles of person-centred care
