Salary: Outer London Teachers Main Pay (Scale SP1-SP6) £37,870 – £50,474 per annum plus SEN allowance £2,787. Existing UPS points will be honoured for the right candidate.

Location: Bedelsford School, Grange Road, KT1 2QZ

Bedelsford School is an Outstanding special school located in Kingston, providing a nurturing and innovative learning environment for pupils aged 2 to 19. We support a diverse group of students with a wide range of physical disabilities, including those with profound and multiple learning difficulties, moderate learning needs, and complex health conditions.

The school benefits from specialist facilities including an accessible swimming pool, adapted outdoor play areas and an outdoor learning environment. It is within walking distance of the vibrant town centre of Kingston upon Thames and has excellent transport links.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Class Teacher to join our welcoming school community. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with additional needs, delivering tailored lessons that support and inspire every child to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

•Planning and preparing lessons

•Teaching, according to student’s educational needs, the assigned pupils

•Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils

•Having regard to the curriculum and policies for the school, and with a view to promoting the development of the abilities and aptitudes of the pupils in any class

•To manage a team of teaching assistants and liaise with therapists and other professionals who work with the pupils.

•Delivery of After School Clubs that promote academic development or/and extracurricular activities.

•Support the provision of musical hydrotherapy within the school.

Key Requirements:

•Have qualified teacher status.

•Be an excellent classroom practitioner.

•Have a thorough knowledge of best SEN practice.

•Have a commitment to the use of ICT for communication and curriculum access.

•Have knowledge of relevant recent educational legislation, reforms and initiatives.

•Have a clear vision of the essential features of excellence in a special school.
