We're looking for an Assistant Ranger to work across the Hadrian's Wall Country portfolio at Allen Banks & Staward Gorge, Hadrian's Wall, Bellister and Cherryburn. This role is based from the office at Cherryburn.
Salary: £13.25 per hour
Working Hours: 36 hours per week, 8am‑4pm
Contract Duration: Fixed term for 4 months
Interview Dates: Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th June
Proposed Start Date: 13th July 2026
Full UK driving licence required.
Responsibilities:
* Nature conservation and habitat improvement for wildlife.
* Site inspections, routine practical maintenance and monitoring of wildlife habitats.
* Support volunteers and help deliver activities that strengthen people’s connections with the outdoors.
* Deliver tasks across the site, working flexibly to support all locations.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Practical experience in land, conservation and access management to level 2 or 6 months vocational experience.
* Willingness to work outside in all weathers and deliver tasks when conditions aren’t ideal.
* Comfortable working in a flexible and adaptable way.
* Able to work alone or under direction, and as part of a team.
* Positive, approachable attitude and eagerness to learn new things.
* Enjoy the work and enjoy sharing it with others.
