This position is at our Camborne site in Cornwall. The shift is Monday to Friday, but does require flexibility during holidays and peak season.
Key Responsibilities Of a Senior Engineer
* Lead an engineering team, apply strategies and deliver an efficient workflow within an industrial laundry processing plant.
* Ensure all activities comply with Site Health and Safety instructions, the SSG Health and Safety manual, and relevant engineering standards.
* Understand compliance responsibilities and maintain records to an auditable standard.
* Carry out regular and accurate assessments of energy measurements using trend data. Ensure rapid response to deviations in working towards our common CSR goals.
* Provide knowledge and input into the continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities. Work with your engineering team to identify areas and find suitable solutions.
* Maintain company disciplines, rules and standards.
* Use engineering experience to order replacement parts and consumables while tracking and maintaining budgets.
* Report and investigate any incidents, accidents or near misses in accordance with Health and Safety Policies, ensuring that safe systems of work and best practice procedures are adhered to at all times.
* Ensure company assets are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency.
* Manage contractors on site, ensuring they are working safely and adhering to Health and Safety rules and procedures.
* Maintain excellent communication between production staff and co‑workers, ensuring all handovers of ongoing activities are carried out daily and all information and practices are shared as required.
What will make you stand out?
* Interpersonal skills to manage and influence people at all levels.
* A minimum of 6 years’ experience in a manufacturing/process environment.
* Skilled in both Electrical and Mechanical trades with knowledge of Engineering disciplines including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical circuits, and ability to comprehend relevant drawings/schematics.
* Self‑motivated, able to make decisions and react quickly to business needs.
* Record PPM and reactive information into a CMMS system accurately; keep the system up to date with changes and report statistics to the group.
* Logical approach to fault finding with a high attention to detail.
* Ability to travel to off‑site training facilities and other factories within the group when required.
Desirable skills/knowledge
* Experience managing a team of engineers.
* Previous industrial laundry experience.
* Knowledge of steam systems and chemical water treatment – BG01 or BOAS accreditation.
* Experience with water network and heat recovery systems.
* Electronic component fault finding and testing.
* BS 7671 IET wiring regulations.
* Inspection and testing C&G 2391‑52.
* Mentoring apprentices and/or developing engineers.
* PTW risk assessor and contractor control.
* Legionella control, ACOP L8.
* Small to medium‑sized projects, Six Sigma and Capex.
* IOSH managing safely or NEBOSH qualifications.
