We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant in Geriatric Medicine to develop and deliver high quality care for older people living with frailty in NHS Grampian. This is a Fixed Term 6 months contract.
The Grampian region offers an excellent quality of life, with Aberdeen providing city amenities and access to surrounding countryside and education facilities.
Responsibilities
* Early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment on the 25-bedded Geriatric Assessment Unit, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Additional area(s) of special interest (options include Community Geriatrics, Hospital at Home, Orthogeriatrics, Surgical & Medical Liaison, Rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease).
* Contribute to education, research, quality improvement, and service design within the department.
* Non-clinical time in the job plan to support these ambitions and links with the University of Aberdeen and an active research team.
Qualifications and requirements
* Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post).
* Either higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview, or possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
Desirable details
* Role can be tailored to individual skills and interests; strong opportunities for flexible or part-time working.
* Established links with GP practices, Community Hospitals, and a linked-geriatrician model in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. Hospital at Home service is Consultant-led since March 2021, with plans to expand.
