Our Opportunity

Are you looking for a new challenge? This role will play a key part within the Field Support Team. The successful candidate will perform faulting, maintenance, installation, and programming of telecommunications equipment in railway station environments, along with any other necessary tasks, provided it is safe and within the individual\'s capabilities. Provide first and second line investigations support on various rail based contracts in accordance with company policies & procedures, contractual obligations, legislation and other client requirements. You will provide technical support at service delivery points on key faults and activities, whilst ensuring the use of best practices & continuous improvement in all areas of service delivery. This is a site based role and will cover sites across the West and East Midlands. A van will be provided.


Key Responsibilities

* To work independently without supervision
* To take charge or manage a small team.
* Carrying out 1st and 2nd line fault investigations.
* Perform necessary repairs on site.
* Perform maintenance as needed
* Carry out on-site equipment swaps and exchanges as necessary.
* Execute installations as needed.
* Reprogram equipment and install the latest configuration as required.
* Ensure safety of self, colleagues, contractors, customers and the public.
* Guiding others on safety matters.
* Compliance with appropriate safety standards.
* Keeping up to date, reading, learning and putting instructions affecting the safety of systems into practice.
* Accurate maintenance of system records to ensure safety and reliability.
* Inspections of equipment and systems for safety defects
* Performing and recording results of safety tests on critical equipment and systems.
* Rectification and testing of faults having safety implications prior to restoration to service.
* Investigations of safety standards and system failures.
* Recommending safety improvements in equipment and systems.
* Performing remedial alterations and modifications to restore system to service where safety is an issue.


Technical Skills And Experience

* Testing and certifying the safety of systems, installation modifications.
* Skilled in using a tablet and laptop
* Working in an Operation and Maintenance environment and understand the occasional pressures experienced


Human Skills

* Experience of working using own initiative and within a team environment
* Self-motivated and self-aware
* Problem solving skills
* Self-disciplined
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong written skills for documentation and reporting


Essential

* Must have the ability to drive.
* The person in this position needs to be technically qualified and certified as competent.
