Salary and Benefits
£52,000 - £58,000 per year + annual bonus scheme + range of benefits.
About the Role
As Safety & Compliance Manager you will be responsible for the management and monitoring of health & safety systems, procedures and safe systems of work at site level. You will maintain compliance with Viridor management systems and support compliance with environmental permits and licenses.
Responsibilities
- Implement policy and procedure to deliver a highly compliant, quality‑led environment with safety at its core.
- Actively monitor, maintain and manage health and safety risk assessments, SSOW and method statements to ensure best practice and prevention of incidents and accidents.
- Collaborate closely with the Plant Manager and site team to support plant development, maintaining high productivity while ensuring a no‑compromise approach to health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.
Qualifications
- Hands‑on safety professional with experience in industrial settings.
- Experience of an energy‑from‑waste facility preferred.
- Relevant experience within a highly regulated and compliance‑focused environment.
- Strong leadership skills to lead and develop a new team in a start‑up scenario.
- Ability to embed a safety and compliance‑focused culture within a complex workplace.
- Experience of permitted/regulated activities and processes, preferably within controlled emissions environment.
- Knowledge of the energy-from-waste/power industry inclusive of legislative knowledge.
- IOSH/NEBOSH safety qualification (or equivalent).
- Awareness of the relevant management standards ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 50001.
- Full UK driving licence.
