Job Summary
We're looking for an Employee Relations Manager with experience advising on medical workforce employee relations. The role supports the Chief Medical Officer and Divisional teams, focusing on improving employee experience, engagement, leadership and management skills, and fostering a compassionate and respectful culture. This is a fixed‑term contract or secondment (subject to line manager agreement). Preference for internal staff and NHS At Risk staff.
Main Duties
* Provide a professional, business‑focused Medical HR advisory service for medical and dental staff, including MHPS processes.
* Apply creative solutions to people management issues to enhance workforce productivity and patient safety.
* Offer advice and pastoral support to doctors in training, liaising with stakeholders.
* Lead and implement organisational change for medical staff.
* Deliver expert advice on employment law, best practice, national medical terms and conditions.
* Coach managers on their duties and enable informed decision‑making on medical HR matters.
* Conduct disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings for doctors in training / medical staff.
* Provide training on managing professional concerns.
Qualifications & Experience
* Masters qualification in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
* Proven evidence of commitment to continuous professional development.
* In‑depth knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
* Demonstrable experience in an operational HR role within a large, unionised organisation.
* Experience supporting cases under the Maintaining High Professional Standards framework.
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
* Flexible, can work across changing priorities.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office and other HR systems.
* Confidence to take decisions at an appropriate level.
Desirable
* Chartered CIPD/Fellow status.

* Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 per annum.
