This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this role is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A key component involves continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, good industry practices, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Collaborate with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
2. Implement occupational hygiene plans addressing chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic hazards, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Workplace exposure monitoring for substances like benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement products, welding fumes, toxic gases
* Asbestos management and surveys
* Noise and vibration management and assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard assessments
* Potable water management
* Communicable diseases, mould, spores, animal/insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
1. Design and recommend control strategies
2. Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections
3. Deliver occupational hygiene training, e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use
4. Ensure assurance processes like inspections and audits are conducted across all operational sites, including support centres and NUIs, covering occupational health standards and food/welfare areas.
5. Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
1. Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
* Qualifying BOHS accredited degree or
* Combination of BOHS W & P modules
6. At least 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
7. Strong drive and passion to promote occupational hygiene and health risk awareness within the business.
8. Excellent communication skills for presentations and diverse communication mediums.
9. Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
