The role: Fabric Technician
The purpose of our Engineering Technician (Fabric) is to support the Supervisor by providing reactive and pre-planned maintenance services to building fabric and specific engineering services at various sites, in accordance with laid down procedures and safe working practices. Key responsibilities are as follows:
1. Delivery of the physical workplace experience in a single or multiple customer locations.
2. Delivering our service commitments, maintaining high standards of HSE and a secure workplace, controlling costs, driving service improvement activities, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
3. Building and maintaining effective relationships within the customer organization.
4. Ensuring compliance with all processes, procedures, statutory requirements, engineering standards, and health & safety systems.
5. Providing planned and reactive maintenance services as instructed, including general building fabric and plumbing tasks as required and as identified on the fabric competency matrix.
6. Supporting the Projects & Construction team and Facilities Services Manager in identifying, scoping, and delivering uplift and refit projects.
7. Completing suitable risk assessments prior to work and documenting them fully.
8. Reporting any risks, losses, or defects to management for corrective action.
9. Ensuring Site Activity Log Books are completed accurately and maintained according to procedures.
10. Participating in an Emergency Call Out Service as required, in accordance with the Out of Hours Rota.
11. Supporting the development of colleagues, including Facilities Technicians, cross-skilling colleagues, and apprentices.
12. Undertaking the Control of Works Authorised Person (AP) role and supporting the identification of other relevant APs and CPs in the cluster.
13. Understanding environmental responsibilities and following CBRE policies to support environmental objectives.
14. Demonstrating competence in building fabric tasks such as plastering, joinery, glazing, plumbing, and decorating, as per the fabric competency matrix.
15. Organizing small teams for fabric projects, including managing and overseeing work of Facilities Technicians.
16. Being fully conversant with all relevant HSE requirements and applying them effectively.
17. Acting diligently with a focus on quality and attention to detail, with a sense of urgency to resolve issues for customers.
18. Constructively challenging established practices and implementing new approaches for customer and CBRE benefit.
19. Having proven experience in a building trade or fabric role.
20. Possessing knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements related to the tasks, including manual handling, legionella, PASMA, IPAF, asbestos awareness, and roof working.
21. Desirable: Holding a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a building fabric-related subject, such as an NVQ, BTEC, or apprenticeship.
22. Having a full UK driving license.
