Overview
Provide high quality, patient‑centred care for Gynaecological Malignancies in collaboration with the Consultant Gynaecologist, including hospital and community support and counselling.
Responsibilities
* Carry continuing responsibility for own case load of patients, setting standards of care, assessing needs, and developing, implementing and evaluating care.
* Run own nurse‑led clinics for patients with gynaecological cancer, referring patients to appropriate clinicians as necessary.
* Provide specialist education and training to other members of the MDT, and facilitate the Gynaecology cancer MDT.
* liaise with members of the Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre to facilitate co‑ordinated care for referred patients.
* Model compassionate and inclusive leadership, engaging, enabling and empowering others, using coaching to promote learning and quality improvement, and facilitating teamwork across departments.
* Provide lead nursing care to a caseload of patients, undertake research and lead clinical audit, and work autonomously.
* Participate in MDT meetings, ensuring patient needs and preferences are represented.
* Deliver specialist nursing interventions across the cancer pathway – diagnosis, treatment, follow‑up, and palliative care.
* Provide expert advice and education to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
* Support implementation of national guidelines.
* Lead or contribute to audits, service evaluations and quality improvement projects.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with Trust policies.
* Participate in the development and delivery of training and education for staff.
* Work collaboratively with other cancer nurse specialists and services across the Trust.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, and the state‑of‑the‑art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.
