Learning Support Assistant – KS1/KS2

Contract: term-time only
Salary: £13.90 – £15 per hour (Dependent on experience
Hours: Part-time, 30.4 hours per week (8.30am – 3.15pm)
Location: Portsmouth suburbs
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and personable Learning Support Assistant to join a large team of dedicated staff. This is a rewarding role where patience, empathy, and strong communication skills will make a real difference to pupils across KS1 and KS2.
The main aspect of the role will be supporting pupils’ learning within a classroom environment. You will work with a variety of pupils with differing needs, so flexibility and positivity are essential.
A full induction process will be provided, and there are excellent opportunities for career progression. Many graduates in this role have gone on to train as qualified teachers.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Supporting pupils’ learning in mainstream lessons
* Providing 1:1 or small group support where required
* Assisting teaching staff with adapting learning resources to suit individual needs
* Encouraging pupils to build independence, confidence, and resilience
* Supporting the smooth running of the classroom and fostering a positive learning environment

What We’re Looking For
* GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics (essential)
* Experience supporting children with additional needs
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
* An empathetic approach that fosters self-belief and confidence
