We are currently seeking a Deputy Home Manager to join our Children’s Residential Services. Are you caring and compassionate, with a desire to help children and young people? Are you looking for a supportive team and a company to grow with? If yes, this could be the role for you!
We offer:
A basic salary of £14.22 per hour plus £30 per sleep-in shift across 2-3 shifts per week, providing excellent work-life balance.
Rota is always given 4 weeks in advance.
Main Purpose of the Job
To assist the manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose, deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager, support and manage staff to meet the needs of children and young people, undertake direct work with children, manage child protection concerns and complaints, work in partnership with other professionals, and supervise senior staff in line with National Minimum Standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Ensure each young person has an allocated key worker and that staff are aware of each child's placement plan.
* Attend reviews and planning meetings to promote best outcomes.
* Undertake direct work with young people and act as a role model.
* Develop systems for consulting young people about their care.
* Maintain accurate records for monitoring and evaluation.
* Work with parents, carers, and professionals to safeguard young people.
* Chair children’s meetings and facilitate consultations.
* Act as an appropriate adult during PACE interviews.
Staff Management
* Provide managerial control and direction, assist with recruitment, supervise new staff, and develop a balanced management style.
* Plan shifts and support staff in their duties.
* Offer supervision and support, identify training needs, conduct appraisals, and address conduct issues.
* Promote professional development and ensure policies and standards are followed.
Resource Management
* Ensure adequate staffing, manage budgets, oversee vehicle maintenance, and monitor the building's condition.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Secondary education, NVQ 3 in caring for Children and Young People or equivalent, working towards NVQ 4, management qualification.
* Current driving license, knowledge of National Minimum Standards, and relevant legislation.
* Skills in team building, supervision, communication, motivation, counselling, training, and drugs awareness.
* At least 1 year supervisory experience and 12 months working with challenging behaviour in a residential setting.
