Purchasing Manager Overview
We are working on behalf of this amazing company to recruit a Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement team. You are a critical key member who will ensure a cost-effective and resilient supply chain and will manage supplier relationships, contract negotiation, demand forecasting and stock optimization.
Purchasing Manager Responsibilities
1. Design and execute procurement strategies that align with overall business goals
2. Oversee relationships with global suppliers to ensure consistent delivery, quality and cost efficiency
3. Negotiate supplier contracts and pricing structures to maximise value and secure long-term supply stability
4. Manage inventory levels and plan replenishment
5. Handle selected product categories, including sample development and supplier coordination
6. Work closely with sales, product development and operations to ensure purchasing supports the product timelines and market demand
7. Monitor market dynamics and supplier performance to identify potential risks and areas for improvement
8. Ensure all sourcing complies with ethical, environment and certification standards (e.g., BSCI, WRPA, SEDEC, OEKO-TEX)
9. Utilise ERP platforms for order processing, inventory control and procurement reporting
10. Project future material and stock requirements by analysing sales data and seasonal patterns
11. Lead, coach and develop the procurement team to promote a results-driven and improvement-focused environment
Purchasing Manager Skills and Experience
12. Proven experience in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain management role
13. Ideally worked in the apparel industry
14. Proven experience managing offshore suppliers
15. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data
16. Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems
17. Strong commercial awareness and cost control acumen
