What is the overall job?
The Mechanical Craftsman is responsible for maintaining services including electrical, mechanical distribution systems, BMS and automation systems, nurse call and fire alarm systems in accordance with all current electrical and mechanical regulations in the Peterborough City Hospital and associated buildings. Other key responsibilities will include:
7. Undertake complex fault diagnosis and fault rectification across the Peterborough City Hospital and the associated buildings
8. Support the management and technical team to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with contract KPI's (key performance indicators) including contractual response times
9. Follow the management systems and work order procedures to ensure Multiplex meet all contractual KPIs
10. Liaise with and assist contractors when required, issuing Permits to Work and all necessary paperwork
11. Advise, communicate and work with the Statutory Inspectors, contractors on hospital systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures
12. To maintain up to date skills and knowledge and maintain an awareness of patient led service issues.
13. To effectively liaise with hospital departments.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
14. Extensive experience working as a multi-skilled, mechanical or electrical craftsperson/engineer
15. Able to carry out in depth fault finding on complex electrical and/or mechanical systems
16. Experience working in the health sector would be advantageous
17. IT skills including Microsoft office applications.
18. City and Guilds of London Institute Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, maintenance, installation or equivalent.
