Welcome from the Corporate Director of Children and Young People
Thank you for your interest in joining our Children and Young People’s service. As the new Director for Children and Young People in North Yorkshire I am excited to announce a significant investment in our children and families service.
We are creating new and additional capacity across children’s social care, which will become Family help and our Multi‑Agency Child Protection teams. At a time when others are making savings, we are growing our teams because we believe that safe, effective and relationship‑based practice relies on practitioners having the time, support and professional space to do their best work, with children.
About The Role
The role is very varied, working with families on a short‑term basis completing assessments and, on a longer‑term basis, developing Child and Family Plans and Child Protection Plans. In some cases the role also involves completing pre‑proceedings work and issuing care proceedings. The team serves children and young people from birth up to 18 years, working closely with other agencies and teams across North Yorkshire.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete child and family assessments.
* Develop and manage Child and Family Plans and Child Protection Plans.
* Support children and young people on a short‑term and long‑term basis.
* Carry out pre‑proceedings and care proceedings where required.
* Collaborate with other agencies and internal teams to deliver comprehensive services.
* Participate in regular group supervisions, individual supervisions and County‑Wide practice model sessions.
* Engage in professional development and share learning through conversation cafés.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant professional qualification in social care or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated ability to work with children and young people up to 18 years of age.
* Experience in child protection and family support services.
* Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
* Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk.
* Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure is required for appointment.
