Overview
ADAS, part of RSK Group, is seeking Senior Ecologists to join our Midlands team based in Wolverhampton on a full-time, permanent basis. The role involves managing projects, liaising with clients, conducting protected species surveys, and applying a strong technical background in mitigation strategies. We are particularly looking for expertise in the Planning process, Biodiversity Net Gain, UK Habitat Classification, Habitat Condition Assessments, and protected species licensing. Responsibilities
* Work as part of a team with existing ecologists to deliver quality projects on time for clients.
* Manage projects from inception to finalisation.
* Engage with clients and provide solid technical advice.
* Write technical reports including, but not limited to, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Mitigation Strategies, Biodiversity Management Plans, Habitat Regulations Assessments Screening reports, and protected species reports.
* Quality review and approval of reports.
* Lead protected species surveys and train junior staff.
* Support the team with business development and project management. The role may include additional tasks reasonably expected within your level of capability without additional remuneration.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Graduate level education in a relevant subject.
* Associate Level CIEEM membership or above.
* In-depth knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques.
* Experience of managing projects and liaising effectively with clients.
* Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce accurate technical reports.
* Proactive attitude to managing time, finding solutions, and delivering work on time and to required standards.
* Full driving licence, access to own vehicle, and ability to commute to the office.
* Knowledge and experience in Biodiversity Net Gain and Habitat Condition Assessments.
* Desirable: one protected species license (e.g., Great Crested Newt, Hazel Dormouse, or bats), bat data analysis experience, CSCS card, Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification, and knowledge/experience of District Licensing for Great Crested Newts or being named ecologist on mitigation licenses.
